I had a wonderful time in the hamlet of Granum on Saturday. The car show was the main objective of my 90-minute drive south of Calgary, but there was lots of extra-curricular activity to make the day more interesting.
As a history buff, I enjoyed a tour of the museum and seeing the authentic nineteenth century jail. The jail’s menu reminded me of the old days on the farm where we used to refer to the noon meal as dinner(but we had better food!).
My greatest discovery was the new restaurant on main street, The Country Stop. Sabina has refurbished an old brick building and turned it into a fine dining establishment. She even retained a partial stamped-tin ceiling to lend some roaring twenties ambience to the place. The food was delicious and the people were friendly.
As is always the case at a small town car show, I saw a few vehicles for the first time. The spectacular 48 Plymouth was one of the cars which I hadn’t seen before.
