The anticipation is intensifying daily. I hope all my readers made it through the winter okay and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again. The weather forecast for Spring Thaw at Heritage Park on April 23 is improving and Environment Canada is predicting a high of 14°C with partly sunny skies. Best of all, no rain in the forecast.
The Spring Thaw event is organized by the Nifty Fiftys Ford Club of Calgary and is the official start of car show season in southern Alberta.
Over the past three months I’ve been busy talking to organizers and adding shows to the 2023 Southern Alberta Car Show Calendar. There are 119 weekend shows already listed, and more are on the way. Most of the shows I’ve listed have a link to a poster or a website with detailed information.
The Weekly Shows and Cruise-ins are listed on a separate page.
I’ve listed a lot of shows which we’ll be seeing for the first time, or are back after an absence of a few years. That includes Gleichen, Diamond Valley, Warner, Elnora, PartSource(Calgary), Meals on Wheels(Calgary), and Sawatsky’s(Olds).
My website concentrates on shows in southern Alberta. There are other non-Facebook sites(see below) where you can get information on shows in the rest of Alberta, western Canada, and the northwest United States.
If you have a show to be listed, send me an email bobtruman@shaw.ca I also make posters for free.
Other non-Facebook sites with car show schedules:
The Northwest Cruise Calendar has been released but a lot of shows didn’t make the deadline.
My Star Collector Car has a month-by-month calendar that covers all western provinces and northwest U.S.
AutoEvents consists mostly of Saskatchewan shows but includes many others from western Canada and northwest U.S
Western Pacific Cruise Calendar has all kinds of events listed but his southern Alberta car show informaton is simply copied from my site and is never up-to-date.
