The organized car show season for this year wrapped up with a beautiful night and a packed house at Cruising at the Junction. The season started with Spring Thaw at Heritage Park five months ago, and it was a summer full of wonderful shows. There were 145 weekend shows in southern Alberta and dozens more cruises and weeknight shows. Thanks for reading over the past five months. I expect there will be informal gatherings through October if the weather is nice on the usual car show nights. [Read more…] about Glendeer A & W – Sep 30, 2022 – 57 photos
I’m already receiving notifications from car clubs for next year’s calendar. It was never my intention to host a car show calendar on NiceOldCars.ca but it just happened when there was no complete calendar at the start of the 2022 season. I considered it to be a one-off and for one year only.
There are at least five other websites which have car show calendars, so I’m wondering if it is needed for next year. The NiceOldCars calendar was one-of-a-kind and had some unique features: [Read more…] about Do you want the Southern Alberta car show calendar in 2023?
Wild Wednesday at the New Horizon mall was wilder than usual tonight. It was packed to the rafters with a full house of cars and it was also the scene of a wedding. Harold and and his beautiful bride Claudia got hitched and were driven away into wedded bliss in a white 59 Cadillac.
As car show season fades off into the sunset, thanks to everyone involved in organizing the Wild Wednesday shows. I’ve met a few of the people who have created this first-class event including Albert, Ross, Devina, Rob, Jeff and Mike. Thanks!
My photos are mostly of vehicles which I haven’t seen before. [Read more…] about New Horizon mall – Sep 28, 2022 – 31 photos
Car show season continues and it’s a good thing, because I’m still seeing first-timers at every event. Cherryl(yes, with two Rs) was out for the first time with her 56 Ford truck. There was also a 56 Ford Fairlane which I hadn’t laid eyes on before but I couldn’t find the owner. The weather was perfect with a summer-like temperature of +25°C, no wind, no bugs(okay, one beetle), as the sun was setting on the shore of Lake Chestermere. With the beautiful weather and over one thousand classic vehicles, the Brian Chipchase Sr Memorial show was a fitting grand finale to a fabulous car show season. The first photo shows one of my favourites, a very rare 62 Buick Skylark 2-door hardtop, and just as delightful were the owners, Stephen and Hannah, who I enjoyed chatting with. Thanks to River City Classics for this wonderful event. My photos are mostly older vehicles which I haven’t previously posted this summer. [Read more…] about High River – Sep 25, 2022 – 165 photos
