I was only able to spend a brief period of time at the Okotoks show so this is just a small sample of the vehicles that were there.  Click on the link Okotoks - Aug 16, 2026 - 65 photos … [Read more...] about Okotoks – Aug 16, 2026 – 65 photos

Shelby, Montana – Aug 15, 2026 – 112 photos

August 16, 2026 by niceoldcars Leave a Comment

Finding a vehicle that’s stayed with its original owner for decades is a rare treat, but the Shelby, Montana show served up a double dose. Gord was there with his 1971 Pontiac GTO, a classic he's cherished since driving it off the lot brand new. I don't think I've ever seen a GTO in the Tropical Lime factory colour("color" for my American friends!). Right nearby, Delmar proudly … [Read more...] about Shelby, Montana – Aug 15, 2026 – 112 photos

Airdrie – Aug 8, 2026 – 300 photos

August 11, 2026 by niceoldcars Leave a Comment

There’s nothing quite like the crisp air of an early Alberta morning mixed with the smell of classic engine exhaust. I arrived at Nose Creek Park in Airdrie at 6:30 am for the 25th annual "Doin' it on the Grass" car show. The early-bird Time Travellers club members were already parked, so I started out by snapping photos of their cars which were glimmering with a faint layer … [Read more...] about Airdrie – Aug 8, 2026 – 300 photos

Calgary Iron Indians – Aug 8, 2026 – 100 photos

August 9, 2026 by niceoldcars 1 Comment

Having an indoor arena to showcase classic rides is an absolute game-changer. Offering an optional indoor display space gives owners that extra peace of mind, and it clearly pays off in turnout. Yesterday, the Calgary, Alberta Iron Indians Pontiac club held their annual Show & Shine at the Thorncliffe Greenview Community giving owners the unique opportunity to park right … [Read more...] about Calgary Iron Indians – Aug 8, 2026 – 100 photos

Irricana – Pioneer Acres – Aug 7, 2026 – 54 photos

August 7, 2026 by niceoldcars Leave a Comment

Back in 1966, the very first threshing bee in our district was held right on our family farm near Midale, Saskatchewan. While I wasn't able to make it back home to SK this summer for my hometown’s Pioneer Echoes 60th Anniversary show, I made sure to head out to Irricana today for the Pioneer Acres 56th Annual Show. My primary goal was to take in the draft horses and explore … [Read more...] about Irricana – Pioneer Acres – Aug 7, 2026 – 54 photos

Moose Jaw – Western Canadian Nationals – Aug 1, 2026 – 400 photos

August 2, 2026 by niceoldcars 2 Comments

The Western Canadian Nationals in Moose Jaw delivered an incredible turnout, filling the grounds with hundreds of vehicles I had never laid eyes on before, many of which demanded far more than a passing glance. A major highlight was the eye-catching 1959 Plymouth Sport Suburban owned by Joe Barton from Balgonie, SK. The rarity on display was exceptional, including a majestic … [Read more...] about Moose Jaw – Western Canadian Nationals – Aug 1, 2026 – 400 photos

Moose Jaw, SK – Western Canadian Nationals preview – 171 photos

July 31, 2026 by niceoldcars Leave a Comment

I spotted a rare piece of Canadian automotive trivia at the Friday meet and greet on the day before the big Western Canadian Nationals show. I didn't think I'd ever lay eyes upon a 1960 Ford Frontenac but there it was. Produced for just a single model year, the Frontenac was Ford of Canada’s answer to giving Mercury-Meteor dealerships a compact car to rival the newly minted … [Read more...] about Moose Jaw, SK – Western Canadian Nationals preview – 171 photos

Sundre – July 26, 2026 – 120 photos

July 27, 2026 by niceoldcars Leave a Comment

We couldn't have asked for better weather at the West Country Cruisers show in Sundre. It was originally scheduled for late June, but this beautiful, sunny day was worth the delay. It was great to run into Earl, who was showing off his recently acquired, beautiful 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS. He was beaming, and this is its very first official show appearance under his … [Read more...] about Sundre – July 26, 2026 – 120 photos

Scotsguard, Saskatchewan: Hagen’s Car Palace – 47 photos

July 22, 2026 by niceoldcars Leave a Comment

In Scotsguard, Saskatchewan, where the population is just two, you can find some of the rarest automobiles you’ll ever see. Keith Hagen and his wife, Bev, have turned a ghost town into something amazing: a museum of classic vehicles pulled back from the brink of time, and preserved like living history along with many artifacts from the town itself. Keith purchased much of the … [Read more...] about Scotsguard, Saskatchewan: Hagen’s Car Palace – 47 photos

Bragg Creek – July 19, 2026 – 71 photos

July 20, 2026 by niceoldcars 1 Comment

The smaller local shows are always the best for bringing out hidden treasures you won't see anywhere else. Case in point: I spotted at least a dozen vehicles at the Bragg Creek show that I’d never laid eyes on before. The real standout was Gord Masiuk's incredibly rare, unrestored survivor, a 1946 GMC Maple Leaf edition showing fewer than 5,000 original miles. Seeing it … [Read more...] about Bragg Creek – July 19, 2026 – 71 photos

Calgary Bearspaw – July 18, 2026 – 81 photos

July 20, 2026 by niceoldcars Leave a Comment

The Bearspaw Lions held another good show on the northwest outskirts of Calgary. At this event I can always see some vintage gems and the beautifully restored 1912 Ford Model T was one of the remarkable old cars on display. I had never seen one which featured a "mother-in-law" seat. It was late morning and as I was packing up to leave for the Strathmore show, I saw another … [Read more...] about Calgary Bearspaw – July 18, 2026 – 81 photos

Strathmore – July 18, 2026 – 72 photos

July 18, 2026 by niceoldcars Leave a Comment

Every once in a while, you stumble across a piece of history that completely stops you in your tracks. That’s exactly what happened to me at the Strathmore Fun Runners show. 1917 Gray-Dort: Going into today, I had honestly never even heard of a Gray-Dort but some internet research revealed a fascinating piece of Canadian automotive history. Manufactured in Chatham, Ontario … [Read more...] about Strathmore – July 18, 2026 – 72 photos

Rosemary – July 1, 2026 – 107 photos

July 2, 2026 by niceoldcars

Sometimes the best travel memories come from a simple detour. While driving home to Saskatchewan, I pulled a few miles off the #1 and into the quaint village of Rosemary just in time for their Canada Day festivities. The energy was electric as thousands of spectators packed main street for the parade, staying well into the afternoon to take in the impressive car show.  … [Read more...] about Rosemary – July 1, 2026 – 107 photos

Medicine Hat Wednesday Nights – Summer of 2026 – 87 photos

July 2, 2026 by niceoldcars

Family ties have been calling me back home to Saskatchewan quite a few times this summer. Fortunately there are car shows to see on my journey home, with "Hat Classic Cruise Wednesday" a regular stop along the way. When my identity is discovered, numerous car owners approach me to say how much they enjoy and make use of the Southern Alberta Car Show Calendar. One person … [Read more...] about Medicine Hat Wednesday Nights – Summer of 2026 – 87 photos

R.I.P. Dick Besler 1933 – 2026

June 25, 2026 by niceoldcars

A Missing Piece of the Show For me, attending a car show has always been about much more than the rows of classic vehicles, the brilliant paint jobs, or the photos I capture. The true heart of these events lies in the stories parked beside the vehicles: the conversations shared with the owners who pour their souls into preserving history. For years, one of the … [Read more...] about R.I.P. Dick Besler 1933 – 2026
