I waited for the fog to lift before going to the Cochrane car show and so did everybody else. When I arrived around 1 pm, navigating through the huge crowd made isolating a clean shot of any single vehicle nearly impossible. Yet, among the sea of enthusiasts and milling onlookers, a few standout vehicles caught my eye for the very first time. I waited for that fleeting moment when the crowd cleared just long enough to snap the perfect photos of a few special cars. I’ve included a few pictures of the large crowd in the gallery.
1964 1/2 Ford Mustang
This stunning Mustang wasn’t just a new sight for me. Owner Jennifer shared that this was the car’s very first time ever appearing at a show, carrying a rich family history that began when her father purchased it when it was less than a year old.
If you’ve ever wondered about the “1964½” nickname, Jennifer had the story displayed right on the windshield for curious passersby. Officially, Ford never designated a 1964½ model; every early car rolled off the line registered as a 1965 model. The moniker was born among passionate enthusiasts to distinguish the initial production run which was built between March and July 1964 from the updated 1965 models that followed.
While it is wild to think the base engine for the original Mustang was a modest 170-cubic-inch inline-six, Jennifer’s car sports the upgraded 260 V8 and it still purrs like a charm today. You can see more images in the photo gallery.
