Day two of the Studebaker Meet was a magnificent feast for the eyes. It brought out additional cars which I didn’t see yesterday. In addition to lots of Alberta cars, there were vehicles from Saskatchewan, Washington state, and many from British Columbia. I’ve combined the photos from yesterday with a few more from today.
Among the photos you’ll see a 1912 Flanders Model 20. The Flanders company was bought out by Studebaker in 1912 and the car was rebranded for 1913 as a Studebaker Model 25.
There are a number of Avantis in the photos. While originally designed by Raymond Loewy and introduced as the Studebaker Avanti for the 1963–1964 model years, Studebaker collapsed shortly after. Two former South Bend Studebaker dealers bought the production rights and tooling, reviving the vehicle under a brand-new entity called the Avanti Motor Corporation to build the hand-crafted Avanti II.
Most of the cars had an ID in the window, so I’ve added the year and model to the photos. If the car wasn’t displaying an ID, I had to make a guess. If you see an error, let me know and I’ll fix it. bobtruman@shaw.ca
The photos are arranged from old to new. Trying to name my favourite car of the show would take all day, as almost every single one left an impression. It was an absolute joy to cover this event.
