My friend Ken Dreger, a member in good standing of the Vagrants Car Club, was rear-ended while pulling over for an emergency vehicle. The details from Ken…
Unfortunately, exactly 1 week ago (Saturday Sept 28 2024) Our girl “Felicity” was involved in an accident. I was stopped in the middle of an intersection on a green light, to allow a Calgary Police Department patrol vehicle on a call with its lights and siren on to proceed through a RED light. I was fully stopped for approximately 4-5 seconds, before being “REAR ENDED” by a 21 year old male driver in a Hyundai SUV. Fire & Police services arrived to clean up the mess and take the mandatory statements.
The Police Officer informed me that the other driver admitted to causing the accident, and that the young driver WAS CHARGED under the traffic act. Damage to the rear of our “Street Rod” is considerable, but luckily enough, most replacement parts seem somewhat readily available from the USA…Having spoke to local auto body repair shops, every one agreed that the whole car would have to be repainted after all repairs were completed. I was hit so hard from behind, that it broke the drivers seat frame that I was sat on. Now, I wait for the insurance companies (2) to get their acts together and proceed with repairs. I received injuries to my left elbow, right leg (below the knee) lower back and neck discomfort. Medical treatments began almost immediately. On a lighter note, the Police Officer asked me if the air bag went off…And I informed him ‘That Lin wasn’t in the car.’
If you’re curious about the Vagrants Car Club, it’s a group of classic car owners who I was seeing at many car shows, hence I nicknamed them the Vagrants and they liked the moniker.
