2023 Car shows

I was on my way to Picture Butte but I'm glad I stopped at Champion for coffee and muffins. The event was billed as "Cars and Coffee" for the morning of Canada Day. The second show of my triple-header on July 1 was Granum where they held a well-organized and first-class event. In addition to the cars, I enjoyed seeing the vintage farm machinery and the old jail. The 1947 Jeep in the first photo was a Pandemic Project for the family and the resulting restored vehicle is beautiful. The motor is a 4 cylinder with 134 cubic inches and 60 horsepower. Calgary's Meals on Wheels held their first ever car show today and it attracted a lot of interesting vehicles. Lawrence was showing his 63 Chevy2 Nova SS for the first time ever. The 86 Citroen is quite a rare car to see, and Graham had his "twin" Dodge convertibles on display. It's quite remarkable to attend shows which I was at in the previous year to see almost a complete turnover in vehicles. I'm pretty sure this year's cars were 90% different from last year's. I'm glad I caught the tail end of the show in Shaughnessy on Saturday May 27. It was already after 6 pm, so I wasn't expecting to see a lot of vehicles but the ones which were still on site were excellent. The three cars from the 1920s were enough to make the trip worthwhile. Car shows don't get any better than this one. I would have driven from Calgary just to see the 1918 Buick but there were hundreds of classic vehicles worth seeing. Ken's 1918 Buick is a fascinating car. It was a special treat to hear it running and to see him drive it away after the show was over.
