2023 Car shows

Update 2026: The churches have amalgamated and the new entity is known as Summit View United Church. I arrived late to the show so no pancake breakfast for me, but the Model A club was out in full force so I thoroughly enjoyed the event and forgot about food. Rick was showing his 1931 Ford Model A for the first time and I hope to see his remarkable car at a few more shows this … [Read more...] about Calgary St David’s and Northminster United Churches – July 2, 2023 – 23 photos

The second show of my triple-header on July 1 was Granum where they held a well-organized and first-class event. In addition to the cars, I enjoyed seeing the vintage farm machinery and the old jail. The show ended with a parade of the cars around town which gave me a second opportunity to snap photos. As a history buff, I enjoyed a tour of the museum and seeing the … [Read more...] about Granum – July 1, 2023 – 65 photos

The 1947 Jeep in the first photo was a Pandemic Project for the family and the resulting restored vehicle is beautiful. The motor is a 4 cylinder with 134 cubic inches and 60 horsepower. It doesn't sound very powerful, but the Jeep only weighs 2215 pounds. The gallery contains some photos from a previous show.  … [Read more...] about Calgary PartSource – June 25, 2023 – 104 photos

It's quite remarkable to attend shows which I was at in the previous year to see almost a complete turnover in vehicles. I'm pretty sure this year's cars were 90% different from last year's. It was another great show at Beiseker with good weather and a parade to start the day. Thanks to Heighton Auto Restorations for organizing this wonderful event. … [Read more...] about Beiseker – June 10, 2023 – 152 photos

I'm glad I caught the tail end of the show in Shaughnessy on Saturday May 27. It was already after 6 pm, so I wasn't expecting to see a lot of vehicles but the ones which were still on site were excellent. The three cars from the 1920s were enough to make the trip worthwhile. It's a lucky find to see a Whippet, an Overland, and a Model T in original condition parked … [Read more...] about Shaughnessy – May 27, 2023 – 17 photos

Car shows don't get any better than this one. I would have driven from Calgary just to see the 1918 Buick but there were hundreds of classic vehicles worth seeing. Ken's 1918 Buick is a fascinating car. It was a special treat to hear it running and to see him drive it away after the show was over. The car has an overhead valve engine which was a rarity in 1918. … [Read more...] about Drumheller – May 27, 2023 – 210 photos

Morrin had less wildfire smoke than Calgary today and lots of cars which I’ve never seen before. Mayor of Morrin, Chris Hall, and his helpers put on a wonderful car show which ran the entire distance of main street. … [Read more...] about Morrin – May 20, 2023 – 95 photos

Forest fire smoke is thick in the air around Calgary, but the show must go on! I enjoyed seeing Dave's beautiful, stock 1939 Pontiac at this evening's show. … [Read more...] about Wild Wednesday smoke show – May 17, 2023 – 47 photos

This show has become a spring tradition, and downtown Didsbury was the place to see hundreds of classic vehicles. The beautiful weather brought out over 400 cars and trucks. It was a beautiful spring day in High River to showcase these classic vehicles. Larry was displaying his 1972 International truck for the first time ever. He found it in the caragana bushes last fall and worked on it over the winter. The Notre Dame Collegiate Steel Pan Band made some amazing music.  Click on the link High River Legion - May 7, 2023 - 51 photos … [Read more...] about High River Legion – May 7, 2023 – 51 photos

The first show of the season at Chestermere landing enjoyed beautiful weather and a good turnout of vehicles. It was nice to see Bill and his dog Gus in their usual spot, and I had a nice visit with the "vagrants." This show will continue on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer, weather permitting. Just a reminder if you're heading for Wild Wednesday at New Horizon mall, … [Read more...] about Chestermere – May 2, 2023 – 41 photos
