Finding a vehicle that’s stayed with its original owner for decades is a rare treat, but the Shelby, Montana show served up a double dose. Gord was there with his 1971 Pontiac GTO, a classic he’s cherished since driving it off the lot brand new. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a GTO in the Tropical Lime factory colour(“color” for my American friends!). Right nearby, Delmar proudly displayed his 1975 Ford F-100, which he’s owned since buying it new 51 years ago, though he did make one minor tweak over the half-century: a motor swap pushing out a casual 770 horsepower. What started as a crisp, cool early morning on Shelby’s main street quickly gave way to a warm, sun-drenched day full of beautiful classic cars and great conversation. Crossing the border into the U.S. is always a fantastic trip, and seeing such an incredible mix of vehicles makes the drive worthwhile every time. Crossing the border was as easy as ever with the entire procedure taking about 30 seconds. The border guards on both sides seemed more pleasant than usual.
