When I started this website in 2021 I posted a statement of its purpose: “My foremost consideration in creating this website was to offer a non-Facebook site for people to see photos of old cars from the various shows which I attend.” Fundamentally, then, this website was for non-Facebook people and old cars. Now there are keyboard warriors trying to tell me how to run it and change it.
I’ll take it as a compliment as to the popularity of my website when people complain about not seeing a picture of their car on here. Thankfully it’s rare to hear whining after posting 276 photos from a car show. After insulting me on Facebook, I tried to explain to Joel Fillo in a calm and reasonable manner the rationale behind what I do and the decisions I make.
The name “Nice Old Cars” is self-explanatory. When there are hundreds of cars at a show, I am selective and tend to post only pictures of “nice old cars.” Bandwidth costs money and photos use a lot of bandwidth. I also leave stuff out, such as tuners, that are not a good fit for a website known as Nice OLD Cars. My readers are not interested in cars which they can see on the street any day of the week. Cars that are in partial shade or too close together are difficult to photograph and I’d rather not post an inferior picture of your car. If your hood is up and you aren’t around to put it down, I’ll take a picture from the rear or side if possible. 86% of my readers prefer to see the photos with the hood down. I try to avoid the gaping black holes.

For somebody who runs whats claimed to be the southern alberta car show calendar, youd expect there to be no bias towards certain events. I.e. intentionally leaving them out because it doesn’t fit your personal taste. WPCC is the only one worth looking into.”
I’ve asked Joel to give me some examples where I’ve badmouthed certain events or omitted them from the calendar. He can’t, because it’s a lie and it never happened. He obviously has me mixed up with someone else. I have the most complete and thorough car show calendar for southern Alberta and I don’t omit any events if there is a car show involved that has classic vehicles.
WPCC(Western Pacific Cruise Calendar) copies directly from my website. If it wasn’t for my site, WPCC wouldn’t have many shows listed in southern Alberta. As it is, the WPCC site is missing lots of shows and has shows listed that don’t exist.

Really? The evidence shows otherwise. There’s a great opportunity for Joel Fillo to start his own website that features the cars he likes. He could call it “Nice New Cars.” As Henry Ford says, don’t find fault, find a remedy.
In the past, I’ve had newer car owners approach me in a civilized and respectful way asking if I’d post photos of their cars and I made an effort to do so.
Below I’ve posted some photos of cars that are old, original, slow and driven by 80 year-olds which have been featured on my website in the past month. Oh, wait…

Yes Bob, The car show circuit is full of whiners and complainers. If you posted their car ,they would complain you shot it from the wrong angle or there hood was closed etc. On that note I notice you ask some people to close there hood for a better shot. It definitely looks better that way. I tend to open my hood to show some engine bay details, but you miraculously seem to get a shot of me either leaving or before I open the hood.
Keep up the great calendar and ignore the few that drive in straight from the dealership and the like.
This is bar none the go to calendar for the true classic car guys!
Thanks, and I’m happy to hear that I can take your photo and don’t even have to ask you to close the hood. 🙂
The whiner didn’t complain about dogs or the occasional old bicycle you include in your awesome coverage of the car shows you attend.
You put on many kilometers attending multiple shows a day to provide excellent coverage 0f the shows.
Keep up the fantastic coverage, see you at the next show
Just ignore the whiners & complainers Bob & keep on doing what you’re doing! Great job!
Larry Gammon.
Yes Bob don’t change a thing, it works fine for most people who browse the site.
Your doing an awesome job Bob!!! Love your dedication to this site !!!!!! Get me the address of your buddy and Ill take him down to the farm!!
Keep on doing the great job you are known for. When I see you at a show I know the coverage will be excellent. Always great to talk to you.
He is just looking for the attention . This site is the best thing to happen to the car show world here in Alberta . Keep it up .
Brian
Thanks for doing this site Bob, it’s my go to for the calendar, and I always flip through the pics. You’re the best!

I do not go to car shows to see a vehicle that has been tricked out by a shop for an owner with lots of cash. As Shania said “that don’t impress me much”. I go to the shows to see the originals that have been lovingingly rebuilt by the owners.
Your sight gives the information I need to find these shows. Thank you!
